Fear the LORD your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name. Deuteronomy 6:13
Oath, 'shaba', meaning to swear, to seven oneself or bind oneself by seven things. Occasionally Scripture pairs 'sheba' 'seven' with oath-making, hinting at completeness, perfect binding, making the pledge (oath) unbreakable.
Oath actions:
Seven male lambs: Present with this bread seven male lambs, each a year old and without defect, one young bull and two rams. They will be a burnt offering to the LORD, together with their grain offerings and drink offerings—a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the LORD. Leviticus 23:18
Seven priests with seven horns, seven round, seven trumpet blasts: Seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. On the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. Joshua 6:4
Revelation contains seven churches, seven seals, seven trumpets, and seven bowls of judgment, representing the total fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan.
Beersheba means either “Well of the Oath” or “Well of Seven,” both recalling the binding oath between Abraham and Abimelech sealed by seven ewe lambs (Genesis 21:28-31).
Lesson 16: If you are going to make an oath, a promise, there should be holy fear involved as God takes these things seriously. God keeps His Fierce Oaths - He is the God who has 'sevened' Himself all throughout His Word - He keeps His promises in every way.
