New month, new word. July of 2016 I overhear someone call another sister in Christ a "fierce warrior woman of God" and inside me the Holy Spirit powerfully spoke and told me the truth over her life was also the truth over my life. God was placing something fierce inside of me. So for the next year the Lord God Almighty and I took a journey for me to discover a portion of what that meant in my life and how Jesus defines fierceness.
It began with this song, Fierce by Jesus Culture. The next month the Holy Spirit led me to Isaiah 59:15-19, Yahweh's Divine Armor. Armor that God Almighty in Christ offers me to wear, Ephesians 6:10-20. Jesus has changed the rules of engagement. I no longer fight in my own strength, He has provided the protection I need. The battlefield is now tipped in my favor, He is training my hands for battle. I am becoming a fierce warrior woman of God. And usually moving forward in warfare begins in prayer.
For the next 30 days I will be remembering and further exploring what the Lord means when He uses the word fierce. Often in Scripture it is reflected by the word great.
"Dear woman,” Jesus said to her, “your faith is great. Your request is granted.” And her daughter was instantly healed." Matthew 15:28
Great - Greek word is 'megas' meaning large, mighty, fierce and is used of intensity and its decrees, its affections and emotions of the mind. Meaning realities that exceed ordinary measures. It is an invitation to recognize authentic greatness, submit to it, and reflect it in a life full of faith, hope, and love. This is what the Greek work encompasses.
The dictionary defines fierce - wild, violent in force or intensity, furiously eager or intense. Thesaurus words are intense, passionate, powerful, relentless, strong, great, violent.
With these definitions in mind I circle back to Matthew 15:28. Jesus commended the woman for her great faith, her fierce faith. Then he granted her the request of her heart. May my faith be fierce as I seek Jesus for the requests of my heart.
Lesson one: A fierce warrior woman, or man, of God has FIERCE FAITH.
