Surrender - Day 3 & 4

David spends many years of his early anointed years on the run for his life.  He saves a city. Then in order for them to save their own neck, God tells David, Saul is coming and the townspeople with surrender you to the raging Saul.  Some thanks.  Yet in the midst of an unjust running and betrayal, David seeks his God and God answers in order to protect the man who is after God's own heart.  No matter who turns on you, God is on your side.

The people of God have turned away from their God and brought discipline on themselves.  There is a famine in the land.  So four men with a skin disease stand at the entrance to the city gate.  If they go in, they will starve and if they remain outside they will starve.  They decide, better to surrender to the enemy.  Perhaps they will let them live.   If not, it will be better than the slow death of starvation.

Sometimes I think we think God is the enemy, so surrender to Him is better than death.  And I guess, in a way He is the enemy.  He is the enemy of sin and death and paid the price to redeem mankind from its consequences.  Surrender to God Almighty is to bow beneath the tree of life, receive pardon and grace, and live!  Lord, I surrender!
