New art medium equals new challenges. How does the product move on the paper? How does it blend? What kind of pen writes best over the artwork? And many other questions. My mind is chaos, but in a good way, so my desk looks chaotic also.
I'm sticking with my watercolor sketchbook, even though I've moved to trying soft pastels this month. Probably making it harder on myself, but oh well.
As I plan with the pastel colors on the page I ponder the verse. The men of Jabesh-gilead, perhaps they felt like I do at times, like my cry for help is no better than throwing a paper airplane hoping it finds its way to the Lord. Then not knowing if I will receive an answer or if I will end up surrendering to the enemy of doubt, unbelief, lack of trust, double-mindedness again.
The men of Jabesh-gilead, they received their answer. Rescued by the newly anointed king, Saul. They entered a season of freedom. In the end, they were the mighty warriors, valiant men, who marched through the night to rescue Saul's broken and dead body from the hand of the enemy. Then they received praise from the another newly appointed king, David, who honored their loyalty and blessed them with a message.
Perhaps paper airplanes are good carries of hope and blessing. Reminding me to trust. Soaring as the Holy Spirit gives breath to territories one has never imagined.
