Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, Hebrews 13:20
Over and over this imagery keeps coming up, Jesus as the Good Shepherd. My mind is still so full of the tenderness of it that I'm not sure I have the words. I think perhaps I will just drop some artwork here in this space that the Lord has had me paint over the last few years as I ponder.
Lesson Nine: Jesus is a fierce Good Shepherd. He carries a rod to strike predators and a staff to guide or pull His own sheep from danger.
Psalm 23
The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside quiet waters.
He restores my soul;
He guides me in the paths of righteousness
for the sake of His name.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. John 10:11
