LESSON 6: FIERCE WORSHIP & PRAISE

So they worshiped him and then returned to Jerusalem filled with great joy.  And they spent all their time in the temple praising God. Luke 24:52-53

Jesus has ascended to heaven.  His physical body is no longer with the disciples.  They did not let this get them down or cause them to be discouraged.  They had seen, eaten with, spent time with their resurrected Rabbi.  They had seen Him crucified, they had seen Him resurrected.  Defeat and sorrow and fierce joy in a span of three days. How could they not spend their days in fierce worship and joy?

Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:29

I am blessed in the believing.  Though I have not seen Jesus, I love Him.  Though I have not seen His physical form with my physical eyes, I have seen Him with the holy imagination He has given me.  I close my eyes on good days and on hard days and cry, Lord Jesus!  And He is near.  My heart races with joy, my mind settles in peace, my lips speak, Jesus.  His Word is true, He will never leave me nor forsake me.  (Hebrews 13:5)

Lord, may my worship and joy be fierce for you!

"Let us go up to His dwelling place, let us worship at His footstool."  Psalm 132:7
